A LOT has happened since I last posted!
I got a job singing with the Asheville Lyric Opera, which I have had all through college, but at the time it was more like an internship, as I did not get paid. Now I do! We did Carmen by Bizet, it was fun but one of the harder and more involved operas as a chorus member I've been in with them. I also started teaching voice lessons again which will enable me to get lessons. I'm extremely glad I decided to do the opera however because I felt I reconnected with a lot of people and made some new friends who are singers and teachers from the area. Also, it was really good to get back into performing classically for me. It really rejuvinated my love of music and opera. I've forgotten how comfortable I feel on that stage, how using my voice to tell a story feels. The stage really is where I belong.
I will also be starting a new job soon. Right now my jobs consist of working at a hotel, doing miller lite/coors promos, teaching lessons, and sometimes odds and ends jobs. I once had a summer job in college answering phone calls for infomercials and selling the products they had. I learned there after the training period and after having talks with my trainers and managers that I had a knack for sales. I had a conversation a long time ago with Brett's mother Karen about them needing someone for her business possibly in the future to work the shop. They own and custom blind and window coverings company. So I will begin training tomorrow, and will run the shop while they are on vacation and eventually will run a new shop that will be opening in Black Mountain! I'm very excited about this job as it will enable Brett and I to have a lot more free time together and I will have evenings off. Having evenings off is something I've really been wanting and am looking forward to! Other than a promo job here and there... :-)
Brett and I have been pretty strapped for cash (well, in Brett's SAVESAVESAVESAVE view of money heehee) because of my here and there job situation and having a steady job (that pays more than my current steady job) will be great. We will now have a well enough steady income for us to get a dog!! :-D So excited. I will definitely put up tons of pictures when that does happen.
Just thought I'd give you guys a bit of an update since I haven't been much lately! Forgive me!
